History
Earth’s Promise/Shvuat ha-Adamah was founded by Isaac Hametz in 2007. During the first year the Kalisher Community Garden for Ethiopian immigrants was inaugurated and cooperation with the Rambam synagogue began. Since 2009 Earth’s Promise has been hosting several JNF groups in the community garden (read more e.g. here&here). In addition to the community garden and the work with the synagogue, Earth’s Promise also focuses on promoting composting. In 2009 Earth’s Promise built a composter in the Gimmel dormitories of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and in 2010 the Compost Network was established. One of the communal projects of Earth’s Promise was the Community Sewing Project that started in 2009.
